I’m pretty impartial to the Latin Mass but the story of this priest does not inspire confidence.
They brought him along not because of their pastoral bond but because they needed someone to celebrate their special rite. So their attachment to the rite meant they couldn’t just attend Mass with everyone else even when travelling.
Then he needs to be told that Latin rite requires permission, which is very well known to anyone who has ever heard of the Latin Rite, let alone celebrates it regularly.
Then he is denied permission, as is clearly legitimate according to Church law, but refusing to respect the authority of the Bishop and unity of the local community, he decides to celebrate in isolation in a disgusting place like a hotel room. Leading all of his followers to further isolate themselves from the local population instead of celebrating mass together, which is probably why that rite is „forbidden“ in that area.
This does not look like a healthy thriving faith to me.
