The Rustix dependency is a mess. It needs to be redone in pure Rust.

From the outside, it just appears that rewrites in Rust are simply a way to take over projects with new people. How about just ground-up Rustix?

I'd say that language choice to a large extent implies just who is doing the work. You end up with a new crew. Bummer that they just don't go off and write their own Rustix with all Rust utilities and leave everyone else alone.

This may be a skill issue. But if I wanna mmap in zig, I'll just call posix.mmap In rust, well what's the equivalent? i guess rustix (dependency). except the mmap result is all unsafe, so I grab some mmap library, that itself has a dependency. already we're like 2-3 deep just to mmap
