Standing with @zeeshan6236, His app passed @Shopify's own review, got approved, went live and is now being sunset while DPL Square Integration does the exact same thing and stays untouched. That's not policy enforcement. That's picking winners. @harleyf @ShopifyDevs

If the tactic is not forbidden or penalized, it's allowed by Shopify. If other developers do not follow the same tricks, they fall behind on the App Store. At the end of the day, everyone will use the same trick. Otherwise, no one can compete

As someone who follows the Shopify ecosystem, I'm fully behind Zeeshan and the Zon Square team here. This is a small developer doing everything right building from real merchant feedback and respecting platform rules yet facing a sunset notice with no clear path to compliance.

The concern isn't about avoiding policy compliance—it's about fairness and consistency. If an app was approved and merchants rely on it, developers should have an opportunity to make necessary adjustments before facing delisting. Supporting a more developer-friendly approach.

Supporting Zeeshan. Zon Square is similar to Shopify–Square integration apps for inventory and order sync. If policy concerns exist, they should be applied consistently, with a fair chance to comply rather than removal after approval. Hope Shopify reconsiders @ShopifyDevs @tobi

What if we all banded together and did these banners in our apps for one week to highlight the problem. Like if there’s no penalty, what’s the point here?

@tobi @harleyf @ShopifyDevs @liam_at_shopify @ShopifySupport @Shopify @ShopifyEng @DsMatie @oykusorgun_ @ariyeheh @celispj @soulchildpls As a Shopify agency and app developer, we recently received a notice that our app, Zon Square POS Integration, has been delisted and must be sunset by July 10, 2026. The reason shared was that the app connects Shopify with a third-party POS system, which Shopify has identified as a prohibited app type under its app requirements. We respect Shopify’s platform policies and understand that every ecosystem needs clear rules. However, this decision is very difficult for us as a small team building in the Shopify ecosystem. What makes this more concerning is that there appear to be other apps with similar functionality still available on the Shopify App Store. If the policy applies to all apps in this category, we fully understand and respect that. But if only our app is being removed while similar apps remain active, it feels unfair and raises concern about whether our app is being specifically targeted. We built this app as an MVP based on real merchant feedback. Many Shopify merchants do not fully move to Shopify POS, especially businesses that already use another POS system for retail operations but still want to manage their online store through Shopify. Our goal was not to compete with Shopify POS. Our goal was to help merchants sync products, inventory, orders, and customer data between systems they already use. We have invested time, development resources, testing, support, and marketing into this app. Like many builders, we take risks, validate ideas, and try to solve real merchant problems. Getting delisted without a clear path to compliance is very disappointing. We are not asking for special treatment. We are simply requesting a fair and consistent review. If the concern is positioning, app category, app wording, or specific functionality, we are fully open to changing it. If certain features need to be removed or modified, we are ready to cooperate. But completely sunsetting the app without giving us a chance to make required changes feels very difficult for a small developer team trying to build within the Shopify ecosystem. Shopify has always encouraged developers, agencies, and entrepreneurs to build solutions for merchants. We hope this same spirit can apply here by giving us a chance to revise the app instead of ending it completely. We respectfully request Shopify leadership and the app review team to reconsider this decision or guide us on what changes are required to keep supporting merchants in a compliant way. If Shopify doesn’t allow any POS they should be strict to that. But there are exceptions where Shopify POS is not available a connector app should get approval. Was your app supposed to do the same in US and other market where Shopify pos available?

These sorts of parasites are ruining the app store for devs that play by the rules.

I’m really disappointed this is still happening. So many apps manipulate ratings with “lifetime free for 5-star review” deals and get an unfair advantage. Organic reviews are already hard to get on Shopify - most store owners are too busy to write them. Shopify needs to fix this

I asked Claude to research this and it says @Shopify @ShopifyDevs is in a class of its own of being the worst DevEx on the internet. what the fuck is wrong with your team
