Aaron Smith a thirty one year old from North Carolina went viral after creating Singularity a dating app in which he is the only man users can swipe on with every profile variation leading back to him. He told CNET and People that the project was meant as a joke and as commentary on how exhausting modern dating apps can feel when people compete for attention. The quirky concept spread quickly online because of its mix of humor self awareness and light criticism of dating culture. Would you ever try an app built around just one match? #datingapps #technology #viralstory #singularityapp #socialmedia

Built a nice @SingularityApp compatible development container I can submit as a PBS job on an HPC worker node. It starts a remote VS Code server that “calls home” via a @github tunnel, so I attach and develop in what’s basically scaled down training environment without any surprises when I scale it up. If needed, the same image runs locally as @Docker dev container for debugging or adjustments. Very excited to burn some electricity soon! 👇 Link to the image below.

Every minute wasted on containerization is a hour saved when trying to figure out what is the difference between your local, cloud and client's prod environment. My dev containers Docker setup for ML is hard earned practice but without it it would be impossible to work on multiple projects in different stages of maturity and with different tool sets. I think proper containerization is even more important in ML where it is not exactly possible to install everything in `.venv`. Once you stumble upon a dependency installed via `apt get` instead of `uv add`, the win is clean. Long live whoever wrote CTK. :)

(5) It's not just @Docker 🐳 For folks on HPC who use @SingularityApp - this is for you too! @SeqeraLabs Containers can do Native Singularity / Apptainer builds. These can be pulled via the oras:// protocol, and we're hoping to add direct HTTPS downloads soon too! 📦

I am super excited to announce that I have started a new role as “Head of Open Source Community” at @CtrlIQ! I’m diving into @rocky_linux, @SingularityApp, @OpenELAorg, and Warewulf in the coming weeks to see where I can help. If you see me lurking in your community, say hi :)

So at the level I work at I build processing pipelines that hopefully are more or less standalone. Docker —and more importantly DockerFiles and the Hub — are pretty well-established. I’d look past Docker if there’s a problem Docker doesn’t solve.
