Actually now that I think about it, is there a SpaceEngine modding scene beyond visuals and such? cos we very may well already have exactly what I'm talking about and I just never knew about it.

I remember Cosmographic saying they wanted to make a game using SpaceEngine, involving founding, building, and supplying colonies with SE's scale and physics. Pretty sure they scrapped the concept but man if that isn't the dream. Or better yet, a framework for making games in it.
