I finally made another animation! People seemed to like this image a lot, so I edited it in synfig. A giant blimp softly tossed and toyed with. Let me know what you think in the comments! :)

Thanks! Yea the animated matte generator is an awesome tool. I think if every vector animation software has something similar would make it super easy to create rendered looking animations. The only anim software I've found that also has it is synfig

Now I won't lie, using synfig was a lot of stress... While indeed was easy to use, it's pretty laggy. This is what I made... Not good but neither bad

Ok here's the thing I've decided to take it to another level and try rig animations (Im trying to learn how to use synfig, pretty easy to use, adobe flash alt) I'm on basics! Can't wait to put this in the shop and make animations like minus8! He was the best until he disappeared

i encourage you to try OpenToonz (used by Studio Ghibli) and Synfig before comitting to buying another industry standard software that could be yanked out from under you at any moment.

None of these are animation intended. If you want to advocate for free software you need to not come off as a 'just try gimp bro, it's just as good as PS' guy. Anyway, OpenToonz is used by studio ghibli and Synfig is another powerful option

We have options to leave broken glass OS, & aDerpy Shroud behind! Here are the top free/open-source Linux alternatives to Adobe Animate that run great on Pop!_OS @system76 & SteamOS @OnDeck (via Flatpak, AppImage, etc.): OpenToonz – Pro-level 2D animation (Studio Ghibli used it). Frame-by-frame, vectors, effects, Xsheet. → opentoonz.github.io/e (or Flatpak: flathub.io/apps/io.github.Op…) Tahoma2D – Cleaner, modern fork of OpenToonz with better UX for Animate-like workflows. → tahoma2d.org/ (GitHub releases: github.com/tahoma2d/tahoma2d…) Synfig Studio – Vector-based with powerful bones/rigging & auto-tweening. Great for smooth motion. → synfig.org/ (downloads: synfig.org/download-stable/) Pencil2D – Lightweight, focused on traditional hand-drawn frame-by-frame. Super simple & fast. → pencil2d.org/ (downloads: pencil2d.org/download) Blender (Grease Pencil) – Insane power for 2D in a 3D app: frame-by-frame, rigging, VFX integration. → blender.org/ (Grease Pencil docs: docs.blender.org/manual/en/l…) enve – Modern vector/raster animation tool, flexible & expandable. → maurycyliebner.github.io/ (GitHub: github.com/MaurycyLiebner/en…)

2026 is becoming an insane year, and it's only February now. Adobe stock is crashing after shutting down support for Animate (formerly Flash) and I say rest in piss. Those who are looking for alternatives, I recommend Synfig or OpenToonz.

I stopped using Adobe products a long time ago. Especially after Flash Player got taken down. Try switching to Synfig. It's open source and still in development.

Probably Blender as it's becoming the industry standard. Enve, Pencil2D, and Synfig are all more like Flash/Animator though.
