The shape of the keys & the tactile feel reminds of the Royal Underwood typewriter I learned to type on Only reason I haven't "Borrowed" it, is cuz I need a Multi-device KB; I touchtype & toggle between 3 main devices hooked up to large monitors & hate typing on teeny mobile KBs

If you want young people to be able to take notes quickly, teach them to touchtype properly and let them use laptops in lectures. Or teach them Pitman's shorthand!
It is being taught in many private schools.

I loved it when I learned to touchtype and I love typing with two thumbs on an iPad, I detest handwriting, and am left handed and have always had appalling handwriting made even worse now by arthritis, long live keyboards of all sorts!

And you never learned to touchtype? Just think, you could do everything twice as fast.

19 year old who can touchtype with 100 wpm here! i don't recall being taught typing in school. my parents put me on typing websites & games as soon as i had the dexterity (and i found it very fun). i've had older adults be surprised when they hear/see me type. it's troubling

I coded for several years - until I started to develop carpal tunnel. My company then, fortunately for me, bought me a keyboard that actually taught me to touchtype.

Unfortunately my hard scientist fawtha who barely even knows how (and cares less) to use the internet or touchtype has a similarly revolting keyboard so I wouldn't speculate to much

I have arthritis and can barely write, it's painful. But I can still touchtype at 70wpm. Marginal drawings not so easy!

They don't get practice writing - and don't get taught to touchtype. Worst of both worlds. If anything can be done with paper and pencil it should be.

I'm consistently impressed by how bad modern iOS "spellchecking" is. i typed "slop" but it changed it to "skip" and I didn't notice until i tweeted back in 2013, my mind was blown how i could touchtype on an iPhone and spellcheck would just magically fix my typos every time
slop is just the latest version of the idea of kitsch, and it's used for similar reasons

Its very cool though, if you ever give it a try make sure you can touchtype. otherwise vims layout makes no sense whatsoever (something nobody seems to mention for some reason). knowing both are very nice skills to have and are also just handy, i love when things have vim binds

Proper touchtyping. I took a test online, got 68wpm. Site says average is 38wpm. Learn to touchtype and we can all go home at lunchtime.

If you touchtype, you're probably fine 99% of the time until you forget where the ^ key is, but you'll get it on the second try. Touchtyping is a very normal skill most people under a certain age have and it's not really that impressive. It's like bragging that you can whistle.

I've got multiple notebooks, which is not always a good idea because I have to remember to check them all, but it does mean the ideas are there for when I do remember. I often write a plan in a notebook as well, but I type the story onto my laptop because I can touchtype.
