I Know!!! *doing a happy dance* I’m trying to work on learning how to get better pictures of it at night… the way it glows is really fascinating… it’s not how you’d expect… it’s subtle- not glow-stick-like if that makes sense. It has really inspired me… I’m MacGyvering some paint today (mixing white and a base green with glow in the dark pigments) with the hopes that our YoungMaker visitors can do a nature study artwork of it that actually glows… kinda giddy about the whole thing- they are legit going to flip. Views from Omniformity Studio at present… It has been fun exploring around the ‘Pigment and Dye’ gardens outside of the Makerspace…the afternoon rains made everything pop… ‘@sketchy_labs’ Irises… planted in honor of the sequels (CircumLUNARY and CircumSOLARIS) to our community authored CircumFUSION… the first (and only I believe) NFT Community novella integrated in the digital cargo currently located on the Lunar Surface… Some organic material from each of these flowers were integrated into my Moon Mission 2 and lake pigments created from them were used in artwork on Moon Mission 3. ** First picture is ‘Sketchy Iris 9977 Solaris’ project… these flowers represent the ‘base layer’ on new canvases that give a cohesive glow to artwork… **The second picture of Irises honors the relationship between CircumFUSION characters ‘Sketchy I.R.I.S (Imagine REAL Intellectual Synergies) 9977’ purple color and her maker ‘Dr. Aurelia Botha-Danny aka Dr. ABD’s yellow friendship aura… For folks who may not know, my friend @Hashlipsnft , not only hand-doodled Iris (a purple ape) but, he also created an extensive portfolio of other artworks for the Sketchy Lab Community focusing on the color yellow. When creating these two characters, I wanted to honor Daniel, his wife, and his family in the canon and lore. When CircumFUSION went to space integrated in the @goLifeShip pyramid, I sent my own updated version which included the story of the mission and Omniformity (a real world Makerspace) tethered to the fictional Lunar Base I summoned for @StarBossDetroit ‘s Alice & Iris to carry on their adventures Offworld in CircumLUNARY… When a YoungMaker sees REAL WORLD things attached to big, audacious, Offworld makerings, something profound happens… they see themselves as a part of something bigger… and it is truly lovely. To Answer the Question… Why do something? Why Make? Why Create? … Especially if someone or something can and, daresay will, do it better? The Mastery of the Medium & The Self-Satisfaction of ‘Can-do/Did-do’ is crazy Powerful… A youngmaker who struts across the kitchen after tying their own shoe without help or has managed to open up a marker and decorate an entire wall from the base molding to the height of a fingertip plus said marker length to sign their name boldly… that ‘look what I mastered’ smile and smugness is not directed at you the witness inasmuch as it is directed to the Universe itself methinks… In that beautiful ‘Can-do/Did-do’ moment, the thought that there was better art or a faster, mechanically out-sourced less labor intensive way to do the thing… was not a question… The only question was ‘Can I DO? It may be a hot take but, there is joy & satisfaction in the simple act of doing to the absolute best of one’s abilities at that time & in that moment… especially doing difficult things… things with a high probability of failure… things that could absolutely be done better by someone or something else… even things that are a soul-crushing necessity (household chores or office place busy-work) that require a summoned discipline, tenacity, & resolve… Things done with a ‘Because I CAN’ joy-filled & rebellious spirit wear the signature of what it is to BE… it is a unique ‘Proof of Human’ disposition that chooses to OWN the action itself and not wear what outside sources think about the act… In an Age of AI that can seemingly do everything better… building/making/doing ‘because I can’ and not b/c I have to is the power move methinks… Hope that answers the question… Go.
