We spend Christmastime with the people we love most.
Like we do on birthdays.
My birthday happens to be Christmas Day.
And this one - the first without my dad - is the worst one of my life.
I feel like people on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside would understand.

GM to everybody except @PurolatorInc@PurolatorHelp because they are horrible. They lost a laptop and pretended it's been stuck in a "rail delay" for over 3 weeks. Finally fessed up that they lost it, ("Sorry for any inconvenience," they said) AND SENT ME A BILL FOR SHIPPING.
Here's a kid whose poopy diapers I changed giving a @TEDx talk.
Zidaan Virani on how the answer to the world's grown up problems might be found in baby talk research.

Oooh bad sentence. I haven't tweeted in a while. I didn't mean I changed his poopy diapers while I gave a TED talk or that he gave a TED talk while I changed his poopy diapers. There were 15 years in between the two things and hopefully more before he changes mine.
Have you ever noticed how password recovery questions include "Who was your favourite schoolteacher?" but never "Who was your favourite Minister of Education?"
That thing people say when someone dies..."I wish I would have told them _____ when I had the chance"... Dr. Darren Markland would never have to say that. He took every chance to lift people up.
We'll miss him desperately, but it'll be easier, I think, if we're more like him
So ... to @hakique, @kathryndong, @ehyshka @erdance and all the unsung hero’s who fight for social equity and support of our marginalized populations and for every social worker who’s dug deep for limited resources to the benefit of our patients, I get it. 🙏🙏
So, hypothetically, would the internet be more fussed about a grainy pic of two people cheating at a Coldplay concert or HD video of a state killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians?
We started our campaign believing in you – the people of Manitoba.
And in return, so many of you put your faith in us. You came out to support us – some for the very first time. You made calls & knocked doors. You voted.
From the bottom of my heart – Thank you. Merci. Miigwech.

Excellent new op-ed by @maiasz. It’s so important to contextualize our drug crisis in economic and political histories. Read this, and everything else she writes. nytimes.com/2022/09/29/opini…
This morning, my wife left Orlando, Florida aboard @SouthwestAir flight 1630 (MCO to PHX).
She sat behind this man. She had been attending the Grace Hopper Conference all week and was resting her head on her tray table, trying to sleep a bit.
Let me tell you what happened.
My latest…on bereavement camps for kids. How a summer camp which helped grieving children who lost parents in 9/11 is now helping grieving children who lost a loved one to COVID. @USATODAY
Immense thank you to those who shared their stories with me.

You'll always remember where you were and what you were doing today when you heard. If you're a Pakistani kid, you were wading through sewage thinking how nice it would be to live till the weekend, let alone age 96.
Everyone in the global North is also crying today because at least 33 million people in Pakistan remain displaced by monsoon flooding related to anthropogenic climate change, right? Right?
