The final publication is now available for download here: hess.copernicus.org/articles… Thank you again @NVergopolan and Marissa Kivi for your contribution.
Excellent work led by Kivi and @hamzedokoo on assimilating SMAP-HydroBlocks #soilmoisture for #crop yield, tile flow, and #nitrate leaching predictions We show how frequent soil moisture obs is key for predicting crop yield during water-stress conditions doi.org/10.5194/hess-2022-34…

It was my absolute pleasure working with @prof_plewis and his great team at the university college London on providing a framework for directly integrating satellite imagery with process-based crop models. Please check out our work here:

Check our first attempt at providing a proof-of-concept carbon “reanalysis” product that harmonizes carbon pools (leaf, wood, soil) and fluxes (GPP, Ra, Rh, NEE) across the CONUS using sequential data assimilation. @PEcAnProject #NASA_CMS
New development and technical paper: Development of an open-source regional data assimilation system in PEcAn v. 1.7.2: application to carbon cycle reanalysis across the contiguous US using SIPNET doi.org/10.5194/gmd-15-3233-…

Check out this exciting work of Marissa Kivi (my first graduate student), which uses Ensemble Kalman Filter to fuse soil moisture measurements into APSIM. She jointly estimated model and observation error while performing both state and parameter assimilation #APSIM #cropmodel

Marissa showed constraining upstream estimates of soil moisture in APSIM results in substantially higher model accuracy and lower uncertainty in estimates of nitrate leaching. authors.elsevier.com/c/1eTfV…

I feel like at some point we gotta ask ourselves, if it's worth downloading and maintaining god knows how many packages in R, when we just need few functions inside handful of these packages and the rest are dependencies for the functionalities that we never use . #rstat
