What a weekend for Hanover Fire Department! While responding to emergencies, members completed NFPA 1006 Vehicle Extrication training, supported Touch-a-Truck events, and joined Special Olympics athletes on the ball diamond. Proud of our team! #HanoverFire
Last night, our firefighters took part in a training session focused on building construction and flow paths, two critical components of modern fireground operations.
We began with a walkthrough of a new residential construction project, examining key building features,
The training continued with hands-on evolutions using our fire dynamics prop, where members demonstrated:
Flow path development and control
The importance of door control
Reading and interpreting the thermal imaging camera Identifying off-gassing and changing fire conditions
Training like this reinforces how ventilation, access, and coordination directly impact fire behavior, and ultimately firefighter safety and effective attack procedures. Continuous learning. Realistic training. Operational readiness. #HanoverFire#TrainingNight#FireDynamics
Hanover Fire pump operators trained last night on pump operations, tank placement, and drafting. These skills ensure reliable water supply in non-hydranted areas. Proud to hold Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation and be ready when it matters most.
Hanover Fire responded to a barn fire on Concession 2 SDR in West Grey on Dec 19 at 10:19 a.m. Crews worked with mutual aid partners to control the fire and prevent extension. One individual was assessed on scene for minor injuries. Structure is a total loss. See full text below.
Last night was a busy night for Hanover Fire!
We had 22 dedicated members write a total of 42 NFPA exams, ranging from NFPA 1001 Firefighter II to NFPA 1006 Swiftwater Rescue Technician.
These exams take significant time, study, and commitment — and our firefighters stepped up in a big way. They not only took time out of their busy schedules to prepare, but they put in the extra work to ensure they were ready.
We’re proud to share that the results were overwhelmingly successful. This speaks volumes about the dedication, professionalism, and passion our team brings to the department and to the communities we serve.

This Tuesday, our pump operators took Ladder 902 to three buildings in town to practice truck placement for different scenarios. Pre-planning like this helps us stay sharp and ready when seconds count.

📚🚒 This morning, Deputy Chief Rob Hagan teamed up with the @HanoverLibrary for a fun and educational fire safety storytime! After the story, the group took a tour of the fire station and got a hands-on look inside the fire trucks.
It was a great opportunity to share important safety messages while sparking excitement and curiosity in Hanover’s children. Thanks to the Library for the partnership — and to our future firefighters for the great questions and energy! 👨🚒👩🚒🔥
