The fact that Re: Zero has handled amnesia plots better than Dandadan is interesting. But I'm not complaining, it is REALLY good.

At first, Subaur didn't actually love Emilia. During Arc 1 and the first half of Arc 2, what he had for her was a crush, he liked her and wanted to be close to her, but it wasn't actual love it was more of an infatuation, the moment he actually falls for Emilia is here:

One thing that knocks subaru and emilias relationship down for me, is how theres no real build up for subaru liking emilia. It comes across as if tappei likes emilia already and as a result he has subaru do the same which i feel jumps over steps that are needed to allow me to connect to it as a reader.
