While the PGA Championship grabs the headlines, the ‘STORY OF THE YEAR’ just happened on the Ladies European Tour. In 2013, Leonie Harm went for a run & was hit by a drunk driver. She was given a 4% chance to live. Harm just holed a putt on 18 for her first @LETgolf title. 🥲

Went to Mexico City to separate fact from fiction with what's happening at LIV Golf. The answer: It's complicated. nytimes.com/athletic/7210948…

Golf Question - is 2 mins flat too long to hit a putt in a Professional golf tournament? 🤔⛳️🏌️‍♀️🇿🇦

Was it the most muted welcome onto that famed 18th green for years? And the winning putt moment also felt very flat #dubaidesertclassic

Why this picture is very cool and why it’s important to women’s golf: (long one) Women pros find it hard it to find money to keep their careers going. It’s hard for them to find a place to play, or people or companies to sponsor them. So female pros don’t have time to develop and often quit after missing at Q-school or don’t have immediate success. This hurts the depth of the women’s game. And why this picture is so cool. These 5 women are part of a program between @ANNIKA_Fdn and @Old_Barnwell Each year they select 4 women pros. They support the women for 3 years. They are given free housing, money to play events, and can practice at Old Barnwell. Along with access to Annika for mentorship. There are currently 14 pros in the program and today at the final stage of @LETgolf Q-school five of them earned their cards. A few of them turned pro more one year ago. They worked on their games, developed, got better, and now have a place to play. This is an opportunity not given to enough women and hope their success helps other courses/foundations/companies do the same. Awesome on Annika’s foundation and OB.

Cam Smith's 6 starts in OWGR events this year: • MC • MC • MC • MC • MC • MC Sad for a guy that was at the top of his game just three years ago. Now outside the top 100 in OWGR and outside the top 300 in Data Golf.

Odd Woman Out: In March, the LPGA said they mistakenly gave Sophia Popov 3 starts to finish her maternity leave. And took away the 12 CME points she earned. Not a lot but enough to keep her out of Q School finals. After last week, 101-150 get in that last stage. Popov is 151st. She has no more starts. Popov says she didn’t think she had any maternity starts left but was told by the LPGA that she did. So she played Founders in Florida, Thailand, and Singapore instead of getting her Epson Tour season started. She won the Epson event on Mother’s Day and was 35th on the season points race going into last week’s Tour Championship. Those 16-35 are also exempt into Q School finals. Faced with the option of her last LPGA start in Hawaii or the Epson finale, she chose the LPGA and finished T67. When the Epson dust settled, she was bumped from 35th to 38th. Popov has lived on the edge of the LPGA exempt list since joining the tour in 2015. She had conditional status her first couple of years as she battled Lyme Disease. Then totally lost her membership in 2019 when she missed the last card at Q School by 1. But in 2020, she famously won the @AIGWomensOpen as a longshot at No. 304 in the world. Yet because she was a non-member, she only got a 2 year LPGA exemption (which largely because of her has been changed to 5 years as members get). Had that been in place when she won, Popov would still be fully exempt. So now unless the LPGA gives her those 12 points back and allows her into the finals, she will either have to go to Stage II this month or accept her fate and play the Epson in 2026 with the occasional LPGA start using her bottom of the barrel status as a veteran member.
