New publication alert! This systematic review was probably the hardest article I EVER worked on! Shoutout to co-author @DrBMBrawner for giving me that final push ❤️ and to my former student @ashlizarraga on her FIRST publication! 🎉 mdpi.com/1660-4601/19/6/3176

Grief comes in many forms, from many sources, sometimes sudden and surprising. Don’t shy away. Embrace the feelings and the truth they reveal.

There is room for joy in this life even in the face of suffering. It comes through pain, via bearing witness and the radical acceptance of allowing whatever is to simply be. Name the pain, the grief, the injustice. Accept what is, allow the feelings to come and go. 🌊🌊

Naming the pain and the grief, allowing it to wash over you, creates room (even momentarily) for joy. As #Rumi says, “This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness…welcome and entertain them all!”

For teens who are struggling with mental health issues, it's not always about seeing a therapist, says Dr. Jaclyn Friedman-Lombardo. "Sometimes it's about becoming involved in your community. It's about making those connections, feeling that you belong." cbsnews.com/news/mental-heal…
