Americans donated an estimated $4 billion to nonprofits on GivingTuesday 2025, up from $3.6 billion last year, according to
@GivingTuesday. The movement also saw a rise in volunteerism, with 11.1 million people in the U.S. giving their time, compared with 9.2 million in 2024.
Woodrow Rosenbaum, chief data officer for GivingTuesday, said the increase reflects people looking for belonging and connection through generosity.
“Generosity is a really powerful way to get that,” he told The Associated Press.
Rosenbaum said this year’s momentum is a promising sign for the rest of the giving season, as nonprofits navigate economic and political uncertainty.
