Spielberg’s films taught me long ago that wonder could be terrifying, painful, even heartbreaking. For me, the thing that felt foreign in Disclosure Day wasn’t the wonder. It was the peace. Maybe that’s because I’m still more attached to the longing than the acceptance.
DISCLOSURE DAY is pulling from a kind of naive, well-meaning but deeply silly science fiction storytelling that hasn't been relevant in at least 40 years. I can't really say I'm too shocked that a bunch of young people are looking at this and going "what is this."
