The infrastructure bill just passed has funding to improve schools (for removing lead drinking water pipes, clean school buses, internet connectivity) but the investments in teaching & learning await congressional action on the Build Back Better Act & the gov't funding bill 1/2

I recently cosponsored the Advancing Toward Impact Aid Full Funding Act to ensure our #CA08 public schools near federal lands receive the federal contributions they were promised. Here's what one local school district is saying about this important bill: obernolte.house.gov/media/pr…

It only took 11 months, but CEF finally was able to give its wonderful 2020 President, Valerie Williams of @nasdse, her well-deserved award…on the not-so-fancy sidewalk outside our office. Thank you again, Valerie!

Q1: The President requested and the House passed a historic $29.8 billion (41%) increase for education, yet that funding hasn’t been enacted. What are some of the costs facing your schools or programs that increased federal funding could help support?

Impact Aid has been underfunded & unstable since 1969, leaving #CA08 schools near federal land w/o reliable funding. I am proud to cosponsor the Advancing Toward Impact Aid Full Funding Act to address this issue & ensure quality education for our children. obernolte.house.gov/media/pr…

The revised framework no longer mentions the specific funding for school modernization, educator training, free community college, adult & career technical education or broadband that the President had originally requested & that House committees included in their bills 2/3

But with more than $6 billion already requested, this vital fund could run dry before the end of the current school year. We cannot allow that to happen. We must provide additional E-Rate home connectivity dollars and keep this program going for our most vulnerable children.
