Day 15 of learning Web3 Today I learned about InfoFi (Information Finance). In simple terms, InfoFi is the idea that information, knowledge, research, and even attention can become valuable assets in Web3. In Web2, people create content and platforms earn most of the value. In InfoFi, contributors can be rewarded directly for sharing useful insights, research, or information. Why does information have value? Because good information helps people make better decisions. For example: • Research can help people avoid scams • Educational content helps beginners learn faster • Market insights help users understand trends • Accurate predictions can create opportunities What makes InfoFi possible is blockchain. When someone shares valuable information: • Their contribution can be tracked • The community can verify or engage with it • Smart contracts can distribute rewards automatically I also researched stablecoins as part of today’s assignment. Some core facts: • Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain a stable value • Examples include USDT, USDC, and DAI • They are commonly used for payments, trading, savings, and DeFi Two risks beginners should know: • Depegging risk, where a stablecoin loses its intended value • Centralization risk, where some stablecoins depend on a company or organization to operate My biggest takeaway: Information is one of the most valuable assets in the digital world, and InfoFi is creating new ways for people to be rewarded for sharing it. Day 14 of learning Web3 Today’s assignment was different. Instead of learning about a Web3 concept, I had to design an onboarding process for new students entering the space. Here’s how I’d onboard a complete beginner: Step 1: Introduction to Web3 Learn the difference between Web1, Web2, and Web3, and understand the basics of blockchain technology. Step 2: Wallet Setup Create a wallet, understand seed phrases and private keys, and learn how digital asset ownership works. Step 3: Understanding Cryptocurrency Learn about Bitcoin, Ethereum, stablecoins, gas fees, and how blockchain transactions work. Step 4: Exploring Web3 Sectors Get introduced to DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, Gaming, SocialFi, and Infrastructure projects. Step 5: Security and Scam Awareness Learn how to identify phishing links, fake airdrops, wallet drainers, and common Web3 scams. Step 6: Practical Experience Connect a wallet to trusted dApps, explore governance systems, and interact with the Web3 ecosystem safely. Most important safety rules: • Never share your seed phrase • Never share your private key • Verify links before connecting your wallet • Always research before investing • Use only official project websites My biggest takeaway: The first lesson in Web3 is not how to make money.
