This really smacks of foreign interference in a major and very important issue in Australia by a mega corporation with unearned power to influence the outcome.

Today, I was given a permanent ban of posting on my Facebook page, @Meta. The page can exist - apparently - but I am not allowed to post on it anymore. The page has been deemed controversial due to the Giggle v Tickle case and increased popularity of 25,000 new followers in a week. I don't want to labor the irony of being banned on a social networking platform while fighting in court for the right to ban men from a woman only social networking platform, it is what it is. Frankly, I'd love to have the same right that you do, @Meta.
Women are routinely punished for not accepting men as women. It doesn't turn those men into women. Nothing will.

“In a free society, people can believe whatever they want. If you want to believe men can be women or you’re a man who wants to call himself a woman, that is your business. What you cannot do in a free society is force anyone else to accept it. What is at stake here is the ability to lawfully acknowledge reality.
If you care so much about “trans rights” you can work out a way to get them without destroying the category of women in law, female spaces, sport, services, the entire reality of lesbianism, and punishing citizens for acknowledging reality. The fact that you haven’t even tried makes it appear that destroying the rights of women is the goal.
Any politician who will look an Australian citizen in the eye and tell them that a man can be a woman is admitting that they will lie about anything and everything because the most obvious lie has already been told.
If no one in this room can acknowledge reality and fix an obvious problem you are either malicious or incompetent. The days of dismissing this issue are over. This is not a culture war. It’s reality.”

Just as rape isn't about sex, Jason Tickle's actions were absolutely nothing to do with "acceptance".
It was all about domination.
It was about imposing his will.
First on @salltweets and secondly, by example, to every 'uppity' woman and girl in Australia (and beyond), who might also have the temerity to step out of line.
And he got judges to go along with him.
Sall was the victim of what I'm calling 'corrective legal rape'.
Doubling the fine was unnecessary
It was an act of cruelty, and an exemplary punishment.
It was a message to all other women not to try the same thing.
This entire sordid debacle was nothing whatsoever about the hulking, hairy, sweaty, Jason Tickle thinking he was a 'woman', and wanting to be accepted as such.
It was an orchestrated and calculated display/reminder of male primacy over women, enacted by a fifth-columnist female judge acting as a mouthpiece for a wider system of control.

I imagine feeling accepted was a huge part of the case for Jason Tickle. Wanting to be considered the same as women. Has it worked? No. He got one woman fined, but she doesn’t now magically think he’s a woman. None of us do. The case only exists as he’s a man. The case in itself is evidence that he’s male.
He won the court case, but made himself loathed in the process. He highlighted glaring issues with legislation, left women without their rights and made Australia look utterly batshit. All in the name of acceptance. What an exercise in futility. Sall however has overwhelmingly won public opinion and on that basis laws will be changed, which is the real solution to this mess.

Politicians could fix this issue - for free - in a sitting week.
An amendment to the sex discrimination act to reinstate the correct definitions of woman & man, plus clarifying that the ordinary meaning of sex is biological, would fix this issue.
The choice is simple: fall behind the rest of the world while becoming an ideological laughing stock, or crossing party lines to fix bad legislation & ensure no more Australian citizens are punished for acknowledging reality.
Any politician who says this issue is too difficult to fix is either malicious or incompetent.

We (lawyers) have been saying this repeatedly. Once you replace “sex” with “gender,” and/or allow men to identify as women, women lose ALL protections in law.
Everything we have fought for, gone in an instant. The clock is wound back a century.
We have to fight this. Worldwide. We’ve seen what happens to women in countries where women have, once again, become chattel - no schooling, no leaving the house without a male guardian, and ultimately, no speaking.
If you think it is impossible, remember: those same women had rights 20 years ago. Now they have none.

The Full Federal Court has handed down its judgement in Giggle v Tickle.
In a shock to women across the country - Sall Grover not only lost her appeal, the Court set aside the original finding of indirect discrimination and replaced it with direct discrimination, upholding Tickle's cross-appeal.
The damages were doubled from $10,000 to $20,000.
It’s important to note the Court expressly said it was only applying the Sex Discrimination Act as it is written- it is "not empowered to give effect to its own view" about whether that law is desirable.
In 2013, @JuliaGillard’s @AustralianLabor government amended the Sex Discrimination Act- stripping the meaning out of "man" and "woman" and adding gender identity as a protected attribute to be pitted against biological sex.
Today's outcome is proof of what those amendments have done: women are left with no meaningful rights or recognition under the Sex Discrimination Act - a bitter irony, given that protecting women was the very purpose of the Act under our commitment to CEDAW.
In my opinion, this is a verdict on the law, not on Sall. The judges found that the law - as that government amended it - left them no other conclusion.
These amendments must be repealed.
The Sex Discrimination Act must once again recognise biological reality and protect women's right to single-sex spaces.
What a dark and devastating day for Australian women and girls.
