A UI detail I appreciate: shift the submenu by an amount equal to the padding to align the first sublist item with its trigger.

please do not do this — tracking (letter spacing) should be hierarchical larger text = tighter tracking smaller text = looser tracking some fonts, like SF Pro, Inter V4 (which everyone should be using over V3), and TikTok Sans have built-in optical size which tends to take care of this tight tracking on small text hurts readability
