I really don't get the push for degrowth, especially when I hear it from our people in TN. We can talk all day about how to slice the pie fairly, but what's the point of dividing it up if we are intentionally making the whole pie small?

This is a great graph. The point is not time. The x axis is gdp per capita. The point is that growth does benefit all. The idea growth only benefits the rich is dramatically false. timely given Stieglitz, Pketty et al recent degrowth noise.

It's the most amazing natural experiment in economic history It's more incredible the South won when you realize that it had a dictatorship, it was the agrarian part of the country before the split, it had lower human capital before the split, and the USSR supported the North.
