Peer-reviewed version of our study led by @AliceEseola first seen on @biorxivpreprint showing the exquisite level of control of organelle trafficking & autophagy exerted during plant infection by the blast fungus. Thanks to all co-authors.

A new study from our group, led by @iris_eisermann , of the septin interactome during appressorium development, revealing many new interactors and significantly widening the biological function of septins in fungal pathogenesis. 👇 @TheSainsburyLab
This rewiring is functionally important.
We identify septin-associated proteins linked to virulence, including Msi1 - a BAR-domain protein that localises at the appressorium base and is required for efficient infection.
Excited to share our review in @CDDPress! We explore how cell death 💀 is regulated in the rice blast fungus Magnaporthe oryzae and summarize its role in appressorium development. 🌾🍄🔬 @talbotlabTSL@TheSainsburyLab See the full review here: nature.com/articles/s41418-0…
It’s a wrap! The next two Molecular Biology of Fungi Meetings will be in Braunschweig @tuBraunschweig and Munich @TU_Muenchen co-organized by André Fleissner and Philipp Benz. Many thanks to Frank Kempken and his team @kieluni for the nice meeting in Kiel #MBF2024
Our very own @mariselagarduno presenting her new findings and really cool microscopy 🔬about eisosomes in Magnaporthe oryzae @talbotlabTSL at Molecular Biology of Fungi in Kiel
@iris_eisermann presenting her beautiful and HUGE high-throughput septin interactome study in the blast fungus at the Conference of Molecular Biology of Fungi in Kiel! 😎👍
Would you like to know a bit more about our Director Caroline Gutjahr and her passion for Science? There is a brand new interview @CurrentBiology !
