Don't look away. These are the circumstances people are staying in this very moment while the windchill outdoors is -28°C. It should not be a political debate that people should not be abandoned like this with nowhere to go. Warming centres are at capacity; we need more now.

“How long will you be visiting Canada” “A week” “Where do you want to visit” “Montreal, Toronto and Calgary … maybe Vancouver” “…..” “I’m fine driving long distances” “What’s a long distance for you?” “Five hours, maybe six” “…..”
I think people have a lot of trouble understanding just how big the Canadian prairies are. I’ve used thetruesize.com to place the UK over Alberta. If London, UK in around Medicine Hat, then Edmonton if in *Carlisle*. Peace River is located in the Hebrides.

We are not out of this pandemic yet, and we hope this work can be used to support the rollout of novel bi-valent boosters and therapeutics for COVID. These challenges and solutions can also support road maps and the response architecture for future global health emergencies.
