BDS VICTORY! Last week, the Iowa City Council unanimously voted to boycott and divest from Israel bonds and all companies complicit in the Israeli government’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Iowa City is the first municipality in a majority Republican state to pass a boycott resolution in a major win for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement. The resolution builds on the principles outlined in the Iowa City ceasefire resolution, which passed in January 2024.
