I basically stopped tweeting a few months ago. I still get a lot of interesting info from twitter, but I didn't know what I was contributing anymore.

I used the word "corollary" incorrectly on a telecon yesterday, as if I didn't already have enough to keep me awake at night.

After all these years I finally made it to the top.

New paper day, attempting to answer the question - are any distant galaxies too big for our cosmological model? 🐘 arxiv.org/abs/2208.10479 In this study we use Extreme Value Statistics (EVS), a method for predicting the most massive object from a given distribution

Is there a course somewhere someone can recommend which would help me practice the skill of /looking at a problem and then writing down the likelihood/?

Some old normal thing of sitting in a room with lots of other people to talk about cosmology.

Surely a list system would be better. And also... do Lab/Lib/Con do their candidate selection such that they appear together on the alphabetised ballot?

Academia friends! Is the fact that the reliability of student attendance has gone (way) down a global thing, or am I just seeing it because I have moved institute / this particular cohort etc?

Of course, there are great reasons why it would be down! I am maybe surprised at how much though.
