Today is #WorldThrombosisDay! A reminder that VTE is common and that up to 70% of hospital-acquired VTE cases are preventable. The HSE, as part of the National VTE Programme, has issued alert cards for patients to educate re: VTE risk in hospital - hse.ie/eng/about/who/nqpsd/q…

It’s been an incredibly rewarding and humbling nine months rotating through Mayo Clinic Rochester as a visiting resident! A massive thank you to @MayoMN_IMRES and @saoltagroup for this opportunity, and to everyone who has shown me support and kindness during my time here.

Fantastic news! We’ve just been informed that St James’s, the biggest hospital in the country, has no inpatients with #COVID for the first time since March 2020. 💉 💉

My 5 yr old boy came home and asked me why bigger kid kept calling him Chinese Boy. My son, confused, told the boy I’m a New Jersey Boy. He laughed it off but my eyes welled up. 50 yrs ago my parents immigrated here but we cannot shake shadow of foreignness. #StopAsianHate THREAD

Anatomical position terms - anterior/posterior/superior/inferior/medial/lateral proximal/distal/cranial/caudal superomedial/inferolateral etc - being fired at us like a bullet train with no time to process them... I didn’t think medical school was for me 😭
What was the first thing you learned in medical school? Mine was that a long thoracic nerve injury resulted in a winged scapula.

One group who deserve more recognition for their efforts over the past year are those doctors who work in the health service but are neither trainees or consultants (non-training speciality doctors, or NTSDs, as the HSE calls them).

I had the same experience whilst on call recently and it’s soul-crushing. Not only is it unwarranted, it also really starts to undermine your capabilities when it happens more than once. Really upset that this is a continuous phenomenon encountered by healthcare workers.
A patient just shouted at me and called me a f***ing chinese c*nt. Work colleagues were quick to defend & rally behind me but man, it was sad. So I went home. Stared at the ceiling for 10 mins. Took a shower, sent this tweet & prepared for another day of work tom.

This is a parody account but allow me one serious tweet. A story you may know but one I was shamefully unaware of until recently. #BlackLivesMatter
