Sigh. I thought I was being so clever and original when I texted this sentence to a bunch of friends earlier. Then I made the mistake of searching it on here. Anyway, Happy Mardi Gras, everybloody. (Especially you @BrendanLorber)

When I posted an Instagram piece about David Crosby yesterday I completely forgot to say how sad his passing makes me feel: I didn’t know him personally but it hurts to know he’s gone…

RIP Bernadette Mayer. Patron saint of we poet weirdos. Everyone please read her Sonnets. Especially the one called "[Sonnet] You jerk you didn't call me up"

The good @DonYorty has recreated our Nov. 6 reading @UnnameableB on his blog -- with videos of Joe Elliot, @nadagordon, and myself, and links to our books, etc. Thanks Don! donyorty.com/2022/11/12/elli…

RIP Gallagher. You randomly came up in conversation with a workmate yesterday. We talked about you nostalgically for a little while. And now I'm never going to talk with anyone about any celebrities ever again nytimes.com/2022/11/11/arts/…

& this is nice writing: "To the thousands of his front-row fans who were honored, or at least not visibly offended, by being splattered with cantaloupes, cottage cheese and all manner of other groceries, Mr. Gallagher offered himself as an exuberant release from life’s strains."

This American Life is looking for stories on the theme of "First Christmas." Maybe a first Christmas with someone specific, or in such-and-such a place, or with a new job. Stuff like that. Any ideas? Please DM me. We're especially looking for lighter/funnier stories with this one

So sad to learn of Anne Garrels's death. I listened to her reports on NPR from the time I was a teenager I think. And met her briefly at WBUR back when Naked in Baghdad came out. She was a legend. RIP nytimes.com/2022/09/07/busin…

I spent too long working on @heatpumpchic this weekend looking for pictures of heat pumps. It turns out procrastination applies to side projects too. Anyway, here's a 🧵 of heat pumps that look like George Clooney 1/
