How should we approach our role as leaders? By emphasising our competence, strength & experience? Or by establishing trust through warmth and understanding? The authors of this classic article say we need to do both but we should start with building trust. Multiple studies in the ten years since this article have backed up the importance of relationships and connections as the foundations for effective leadership. hbr.org/2013/07/connect-then… Graphic: @tnvora

The longer someone stays in hospital The higher the risk of hospital acquired harm Getting patients home is not just about "freeing beds" it's about giving them support in the right place and keeping them well. Keeping them in hospital longer than necessary adds to risks of harm

A striking picture of what is seen by patients, passers by, and other healthcare workers. They must know how grave the situation is when they see this.
My hospital room looks out on to A & E, this is the view today!! Absolutely horrific. Thinking of all my ED colleagues and the unbelievable pressures you are all facing today and everyday. 😭🙏 never seen anything like it!
