This is one of those weird Windows things I noticed for years but could never put into words (always thought it was a monitor issue).
Once I got a Macbook I immediately realized I’ll never be able to edit code on anything else ever again.
Here's a good example of the difference between Windows and macOS font rendering. If you can't tell the difference, or it doesn't bother you, I envy you greatly. You should probably buy a PC instead of a Mac next, if you work with web development.

A: yeah no I read zero books, it was a blur of obsessive indulgence across hundreds of scattered sources online and experimental coding and then years later I somehow came out the other end knowing a lot about it

Reading the @htmx_org essays has been such an illuminating experience for me.
I picked up web dev post-2015 and I think as a result have always had a very client-oriented idea of the web.
Its really cool to read about the older, HTML-oriented idea’s

One of the first things a senior dev showed me at Discord was that in JavaScript a for-loop can sometimes be MUCH faster than map/filter/reduce
(although it depends on the browser engine, always be profiling when trying to improve performance)

ES6 dropped like months after I started learning JavaScript, and I remember at the time trying SO hard to find React tutorials in ES5 because class-based React was too confusing for me

A lot of y'all weren't around, but when ES6 came out there was a group of prominent devs who hated it and kept using ES5 (var and whatnot) for several years later. Most dropped out of the community but some did eventually convert.
