SWING TRADING STRATEGY/RULES ~Rules enforced on daily charts~ ~This strategy is for taking large positions (10%-20% of account) as the stock is moving with strong momentum and aggressively taking profits (So the position size that actually gets held overnight becomes 5%-10% of account)~ ~Never Swing full size if position is red/ Close red positions at end of day and recalibrate based on new situation~ *BUY RULES* -Only buy (long only) swing trades in an up trending market. -Favorite setups: VCP, Cup with handle, High tight flag, W pattern, Flat bottom, 3 legs down & go consolidation. -Triggers: Break out of base, Shake out demand tails, Pull back & bounce from key moving average, Pull back & bounce demand zone, Break from closes near bottom of a base (partial). -Don’t chase and open a position more than 2% from break out. -Be Selective and have at least 4 reasons for taking the trade. -Rate the setup and size position based on the quality of the setup. -Let the 9EMA cross the 21EMA before taking a full position. -May take half positions at tight areas or shake out tails in the bottom of a NICE base. *SELL/TAKE PROFIT RULES* -Sell part of position at end of the first day when ever possible and move stop to ensure a small win if possible & minimize gap risk. -Sell 1/3 position at 2X risk (EVERY TIME!) making position risk free. -Find a way to sell 20%-50% into strength once a position it over 6% -Sell at least 2/3 position when price is extended 10% from the 21EMA because price usually pulls back. add back on at the 9EMA on the pull back if markets allow and the small portion you still hold will help with average cost on the runner position. -If a stock closes below the 21EMA sell it recalibrate. -Trail stop at prior days low. -Take profits into strength or rules will force you to take profit on weakness. *RISK MANAGEMENT* -Max risk is .6%. -Determine position size based on technical stop. -ALWAYS take stop then recalibrate if necessary. -Close red trades at end of the day and try again tomorrow if still nice setup when it makes sense. -Sell 1/3 position at 2X risk (EVERY TIME!) making position risk free. -Sit out or Switch to day trade/ range trading strategies while markets are in downtrend or range bound. -Losing every other trade or so is normal. -Don’t let daily PnL fluctuations bother me. Only worry about weekly/monthly PnL.

The charts show where price, buyers & sellers have been in the past, it doesn’t tell you where price will go in the future. Knowing where participants are buying and selling and assets allows you to manage risk properly. People think technical analysis tells them the future and this is annoying.

This can be bullish price action for longer term holders because it forces people who have leverage or too much size to sell lower as opposed to them creating over head supply as we try yo go higher. These over leveraged participants become sellers and create drag if the market doesn't make these types of healthy moves.
