What the fuck is this

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

today a software engineer friend with limited experience using LLMs asked for resources on how to get up to speed with the latest and greatest tools/practices
I couldn't think of a great up-to-date resource to get up to speed.
I thought of your blog post from march 2025: simonwillison.net/2025/Mar/1… which is honestly still a pretty great framing/primer, but so much has happened in the last year
I'd love to read an update on how your daily workflows have changed since then

A quick first pass at a new iteration of the realtime diffusion pipeline: physical interface → camera → realtime img2img → upscale → 3DGS through the new TripoSplat.
Rough and held together with tape for now, but the whole loop runs end to end. Next:
- better input and camera's pov,
- splitting it across two machines to automate the hand-off,
- and adding in the Tripo3D API for higher-res models... the 3D printer is just waiting for that.

I love the personal software vibes
but I also think this is a reasonably nice UX for collection/curation/clipping
I’m a collector at heart. Last year, after being frustrated with any app I tried for managing my design inspiration I did the only thing that made sense in 2025 – building my own, just for myself. Native, cross-platform, file system based.

Digital art deserves interfaces that deepen how we move through a body of work.
For ‘Split Logic’ we built a color bar that clusters the entire collection chromatically, allowing the exhibition to be explored through tonal relationships rather than fixed ordering.
