When I joined the Police I thought the only reason I would be off work would be because I was unwell or injured. 🤷🏼♂️
I never contemplated that being unwell would be because of my mental health. 👀
About now, three years ago, I’d had a year or continuous traumatic incidents and it broke me. I burnt out at the same time as being diagnosed with PTSD. 😅
The hardest bit? I finally said yes to help and counselling. I finally said yes to taking time off and looking after myself. This job will push you all the way if you let it. But you don’t have to. 🫡
We make time for the most vulnerable at work, so make time for yourself too please. Check in with your mates. Listen to them, really listen. And remember, however fun it might seem, you are just a number in a very big system at work, and if you leave, you’ll be replaced the next day. 🤦🏼♂️
But at home, away from work, you are you and importantly, there’ll be other days and other ways, but they’ll never be another you. 👏
Look after you, please. 🩵
