It just dawned on me that without his goal against Newcastle we wouldn’t have won the league. Then it struck me that he wears shirt number 23, which coincidentally matches the exact number of days since Arsenal last won the Premier League title.

I meet Hanson outside Toronto Stadium who is a Canada and Arsenal fan from Ontario. He tells me he flew from Canada to London just to take part in the parade the day after the Champions League final. He tells me the whole plane was full of Arsenal supporters! ‘Arsenal means everything to me,’ he tells me, adding: ‘I’m also very glad the World Cup is here.’
