Some personal news … I have been incredibly blessed and fortunate the past 7 years to work in intercollegiate athletics for a place I love dearly, but yesterday was my last official day at @hailstate @msstate Huge thank you to my good friend @CoachDanMullen for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to join his staff in 2017. A heartfelt thank you to @BallCoachJoeMo and the late Mike Leach for allowing me to continue in that role. Sincere gratitude for another close friend and mentor, @JohnCohenAD, for allowing me to grow and move over to administration and be a member of his executive staff. I hope I provided leadership and direction that made each of you happy you decided to give me the opportunities you did. Thank you to the countless co-workers I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside. We’ve been through some battles together. We’ve walked some incredibly hard and difficult roads in these 7 years. We lost friends. We hurt. But we grew. And persevered. And won. Oh we won! And we had an absolute blast! There are literally hundreds and hundreds of student-athletes I’ve been blessed to work with and to call friends - far too many to thank here. Always know this: you guys and girls are rockstars. You are shining examples of what college athletics is supposed to be. I am a far better person for knowing you. I have been far from perfect, but I have always tried to keep our student athletes and their growth, development, and well-being as my guiding star while being the best representative of my alma mater I could. Although my time on staff at @hailstate is over, I will continue roaming the field as the sideline reporter for @hailststefb and @learfield. Stay tuned (or don’t 😂) for updates on my future plans. God bless and #HailState! Remember, at MISSISSIPPI State, faMily means everything. What a ride …

If you aren’t following this account you’re clearly of the wrong age group because this dude is gold.
This motherfucker ran a solid kingdom and I think some acknowledgement of that is overdue. Low crime, clean streets, quality monarch.

I need to revisit a recurring post. If you go through the drive-thru line at a coffee shop limit your order to drip coffee or at least something that is quickly prepared. Otherwise, park the car and go inside. Lexus in front of me today ordered three drinks, two of which were lattes. Go inside! I will die on this hill.

Spent many a summer days swimming in this pool as a kid that had the good fortune of growing up in @mscollegetown! Had to pass a “swim test” before you could swim in the deep end!
As summer heats up, here’s another throwback to the pool outside the Tin Gym. 🏊

Absolutely amazing. What an environment. And yes, this rivals any school in the country. Well done @WVUBaseball
Missed this while at a game last night. Man, this is awesome. And Guzman getting emotional at the end was icing on the cake.

It’s not whether I think what he’s saying is hypocritical or not it IS hypocritical. And when hypercritical people try to tell em something shinty every thing they are being hypercritical about I tend to tune them out.
I don't care if you don't like Saban because he had Alabama running the sport for a decade. I don't care if you think what he's saying is hypocritical. If you actually believe that $40 million a year for rosters (which is only growing) is actually sustainable, let me know why

This is so well done! Hat tip!
Alabama baseball did a Moneyball edit for their clinching regional home run How can you not love college baseball?

I buy all of this … except for the part that the guys prefer to bus rather than fly. No. No, they don’t.

This is a no-brainer. So really fortunate to spend a few years on Mike Leach’s staff at @HailStateFB. I didn’t spend near the years on his staff as some people, but goodness do I have a lifetime of stories. That started the day we left the airport!

Hey @TexasFootball your move. You in or out?

And some people think the answer to college athletics is federal intervention 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

NEW: Sen. Ted Cruz to @AndyAriOn3 on the "Lane Kiffin rule" in The Protect College Sports Act: "It is absolutely the Lane Kiffin Provision... A university cannot recruit or hire a head coach or OC/DC while the season is happening or during the playoff." Cruz later added: "What happened with Lane Kiffin was really unfair to the student athletes. It's not fair if you're playing to suddenly have your coach leave in the middle of the season as you're going into the playoff, and have your coach go to the competitor."

Truly amazing at what cry babies Oklahoma fans are. Wild actually. But cracks me up. I’ve always found the “it was a fluke y’all won not one but two out of three at OUR park” a really funny argument.

This is so incredibly lame. Goodness

True. But 20 miles is larger than pretty much any school district.
Replying to @jay_perry
Any private school playing in the MHSAA has a district. 20 mile radius of the school, plus they are not allowed to scholarship.

That’s a great point. And spot on. Public and private school. Sometimes kids just want (need) a different spot for a variety of reasons.

I think also sometimes people misinterpret a player changing schools as coaches “recruiting”. I’ve lost players to local school that I know the coach didn’t contact. Also received some I didn’t contact. But it’s called “recruiting”. Now there is 100% “recruiting” that happens where a player or parent reaches out to a coach. I can honestly say I’ve never contacted a player or parent first. Will answer the phone. But I’m notorious around here for “recruiting”. We’ve lost football guys to Starkville. I’m confident they weren’t contacted first. Kid and family thought they needed a better challenge or opportunity. Go for it. Sometimes kids just wanna leave for whatever reason. Grass is greener they think. That being said I’m also very aware of active guys actively going after guys. I’ve even been told several might head your way & pretty confident coach didn’t contact them.

Apparently. Though I confess I have not confirmed that.

Is there not a 20 mile radius rule for private schools playing in MHSAA?

10000% agree. I was never blaming PCS. This is squarely an MHSAA issue. 100%. Personally I’d just say to all private schools, “no thanks.” But that’s me.
Replying to @jay_perry
Not a school problem it's an Association problem. School is acting within the rules. MHSAA allows it. In Louisiana we have defined schools that can enroll students outside of their attendance zone as Select. Then we have split Select and Non Select when playoffs begin.
