So I went down a David Alan Coe rabbit hole, again, and found this. This is from Gilly’s in 1982 with @thewarrenhaynes on guitar. I had no idea. “Please Come To Boston” written by Dave Loggins. It’s perfect. Even the shorts.

This is pretty funny. The fact that it includes Ulfric Stormcloak puts it over the top.
Real or not, Morrissey's 'The Malefactors' list is pure comedy gold. Made my day.

Zappa, Ike Willis, George Duke, Ruth Underwood, Chester Thompson (pre-Genesis). Just the best to ever do it. Maybe Frank's most overtly topical "protest" song. Regardless, these cats could play.

The 5th (6th?) Floyd. Remarkable saxophone throughout all those great records and live performances. Was lucky to see him with Pink Floyd in 1994. RIP.
My dear friend Dick Parry died this morning. Since I was seventeen, I have played in bands with Dick on saxophone, including Pink Floyd. His feel and tone make his saxophone playing unmistakable, a signature of enormous beauty that is known to millions and is such a big part of songs such as Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Us and Them and Money. He played in the last band I had that included Rick Wright for the On An Island Tour and at Live 8 with Pink Floyd. Here are some pictures of him, including one of him and me playing for the ABC Minors at the Victoria Cinema in Cambridge in 1963.

So much going on here. This is an offshoot of Skynrd with songs co-written by Jim Peternik (he wrote many hits like Eye of the Tiger and Vehicle), there's two drummers, and its peak MTV. These dudes could play. x.com/JVPALT1/status/2056923…

In 1999, I discovered the Premier League was a thing and decided that the name Arsenal sounded cool so I made them my team. In 2003, my son was born so I made him a fan, he loves them. We even toured Emirates a few years ago. Yesterday, he got his first championship. 🏆

One of their best but I always lock in on Roger Taylor's drumming work on this one. It's very technical but moves the song along with conviction and a flair. These guys could really play and it helped them stand out amongst the New Romantic crowd.

People you love have feeds filled with this garbage now. The sad part is it pushed out actual posts from friends and family in already broken algorithms. We’re doomed.
Another dispiriting genre of AI slop for Facebook boomers: Sad old musicians holding signs wondering if anyone will remember them. This one page alone is entirely ones of Joan Baez—and these are all just from the past 24 hours! Thousands of likes and comments.

My license plate has a legit life of its own. I'm at a pizza joint here in Buffalo and they put one of my plates on the wall and they just put the show on when I walked in. Happy 5/9/77!

If you don't follow deep Brian Wilson lore, he was obsessed with this song. This is a power move.

My dad was a life long Yankees fan and he used to do his John Sterling imitation after every Yanks win. This really makes me miss him.
Well, John, we thank you.

Bill Janovitz's voice was always the hook on this song for me. I still play it all the time. He's also written some of the best books on Rock and Roll over the last few years.

Like so many others, I listened to hundreds of Yankees games on the radio called by John Sterling. The best to do it. RIP.
Breaking News: John Sterling, the over-the-top radio announcer who colorfully called Yankees games for more than 35 years, died at 87. nyti.ms/48YYHef

This is a killer set of music with two from MBV and Mission of Burma to boot.
For those who asked, here's my DJ set at the sold-out opening show of Sugar's reunion tour last night at @WebsterHall. The theme was to set the context for their classic 1992 album _Copper Blue_. And good grief, what a ferocious, intense show Sugar played. Catch it if you can.
