Tak tahu macam mana nak beritahu kita punya kegembiraan," said Bukit Kiara longhouse resident Raju after learning his family will finally receive two permanent homes after 44 years of waiting. The 75-year-old told BFM he was in his 30s when he first moved in the longhouse, and never expected the issue to be resolved within his lifetime. 📹: BFM News

Technology can be a boon, but if not managed responsibly, it can be a bane. That formed a large part of my conversation with Hon. Minister Desmond Lee, Minister for Education of Singapore as my team and visited his office at the MoE headquarters. We shared our views on schools being a safe space for our young people, and that safety and mental health are two vital pillars to provide a platform for students to excel. I'm glad that we both believe strongly on the vital linkage between quality of education and dignified jobs for both our peoples. And that education does not begin and end in the classroom, but - due to rapid technological change - is a lifelong process. We dived deep into the idea that technical and vocational education is a modern ticket to success for our students, largely due to both our nations wanting to see Southeast Asia move up the manufacturing value chain into advanced sectors. Both Selangor and Singapore do not have access to vast amounts of land - Singapore more so than Selangor - and that is the reason we see our people as our strength to build upon. If organized strategically, TVET can be the silver bullet to arm the next generation, and I thank Minister Desmond Lee the time and opportunity to meet with his team running ITE College West. I wish Minister Desmond Lee the absolute best, and I'm looking forward to welcoming him in Selangor soon for deeper cooperation, to share the work our team has been doing in areas like early childhood education and providing free tuition to over 165,000 lesser fortunate students resulting in better grades in SPM. #KitaSelangor #Singapore #SRNathanFellowship

I continued the next leg of the S.R. Nathan Fellowship to meet Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, as we exchanged views at length on the developments nationally and regionally. Dr Vivian Balakrishnan has been one of Singapore’s key policymakers for more than two decades. Since 2015, he has served as Foreign Minister and played an important role in shaping Singapore’s international engagement amid an increasingly complex global landscape. Our last meeting was in Kuala Lumpur in 2022. It was a delight to reconnect, this time in Singapore under the S.R. Nathan Fellowship programme, which he graciously hosted. We had a candid and insightful discussion on a wide range of issues, particularly the future of Malaysia and Singapore, regional developments, and the challenges facing ASEAN in an increasingly uncertain world. We also exchanged perspectives on current geopolitical developments and their implications for our region. One area I found particularly valuable was Dr Vivian’s sharing on Singapore’s experience in water management. From the governance of raw water resources and drinking water supply to flood mitigation and long-term water security planning, Singapore’s integrated approach offers many useful lessons for cities and regions navigating the growing challenges of climate change and urbanisation. The conversation reaffirmed the importance of continuous dialogue, mutual understanding and regional cooperation as we work towards a more resilient, sustainable and prosperous future for our peoples. I thank Dr Vivian Balakrishnan for the generous time and only wished we more time to chat. And I cannot leave out the incredibly dedicated staffers at Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their hospitality accorded to my team and I at the MFA Headquarters yesterday. The S.R. Nathan Fellowship provides a unique platform for dialogue, a refreshing perspectives on global challenges, exchange of ideas, and I am truly appreciative for the opportunity to be part of it. #KitaSelangor #Singapore #SRNathanFellowship @MFAsg @VivianBala

After a day of meetings with various Singapore agencies, I had the honour of an audience with Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong at Sri Temasek in Istana Singapore. The former Prime Minister of Singapore of over 20 years conveyed his sharp insight on global geopolitical developments and it's impact on this region, especially middle powers like Malaysia and Singapore. As the primary architect who built on the solid foundation of Singapore to take the nation to the forefront of global economy, Senior Minister Lee's approach epitomises the importance of steady hands governing in challenging times. Our conversation centred on stability as a prerequisite for continued economic growth as a means to providing certainty in a changing environment. Senior Minister Lee remains a keen observer on the region's developments, and I conveyed my assurance that clarity of governance is my priority in Selangor, and extended Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim's regards on behalf Malaysia to Singapore. Selangor and Singapore have much in common be it historically or in our present multicultural fabric, and we have even more room to collaborate to address the big challenges facing both our societies. I thank Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong for his warm reception and deeply appreciate our candid conversation on the state of our region today. I'm grateful for the opportunity to call upon SM Lee for his ideas and advice, and in Selangor, Singapore will always have a partner and friend. #SRNathanFellowship #KitaSelangor #Singapore

I am honoured to be in Singapore this week at the invitation of the Government of Singapore under the S.R. Nathan Fellowship programme. Named after Singapore’s sixth President, the late S.R. Nathan, the fellowship brings together emerging leaders from around the world to exchange views, deepen mutual understanding, and gain insights into Singapore’s development journey, public policies and governance framework. The programme kicked off with a briefing by the Economic Development Board (EDB) and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), both under Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry. EDB functions similarly like Selangor's Invest Selangor and Malaysia's MIDA, while EnterpriseSG's goal is to expand the potential of startups to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to eventually opening a pathway towards internationalization of domestic firms. I shared that Selangor and Singapore's economies have much room to work together and firmly believe the two economies can develop a trusted network of local companies in Southeast Asia. There were great number of ideas discussed at length, and my team will make follow-ups in due course to provide better opportunities for companies and workers in Selangor and Singapore. #SRNathanFellowship #KitaSelangor #Singapore

"If your city "daytime" population is less than 5 million , please don't ask for LRT or even ART" By this logic, Sapporo (1.9 mil), Fukuoka (1.6 mil), and Sendai (1.1 mil) shouldn't have subway networks Yet they all do. This doesn't include the JR lines JB needs rail transit

Subang MP Wong Chen said he will be removed as non-executive chairman of Malaysia Debt Ventures on May 31 after 3 years, without any explanation. Wong said he was reluctant to take the post in 2023 as he opposed MPs serving in GLCs, but accepted it after PM Anwar Ibrahim told him to clean up the mess. 🧵1

Sama-sama doakan agar segala urusan berjalan lancar & dipermudahkan demi keselesaan penduduk Petaling Jaya. 🤲🏻 #KKMPrihatin #MalaysiaMADANI #YakinMADANI #KesihatanRakyat
This is something I've said for years at this point 1. Public health and social funding is locked in economically ruinous fuel subsidies 2. A new public hospital needs thousands of medical and admin staff most seem to forget Call me a "hack" if you want, these are the facts
"Building a new 800 to 1,000-bed general hospital in Petaling Jaya is not straightforward." "This is not a game of SimCity." galencentre.org/2026/05/26/a…
