Tim Meek, of Assoc of Anaesthetists, says paper records were faster than current NHS tech. Says it used to take three mins to go through a set of paper notes. "It now might take 10 minutes to scroll through maybe four or five different apps on a slow laptop" #hcf25 #Lab25

Eat your hearts out, anti-psychiatrists! Alternatively, keep it up, because it seems to be working in Psychiatry's favour.
August 2024 Competition ratio. Psychiatry Core Training had around 10 applications per post. Almost double that of Core Surgical Training. There is no shortage of junior doctors looking for Psychiatry Training. medical.hee.nhs.uk/medical-t…

What have we unleashed on the NHS?! Actually speechless after watching that first video. 2 HUGE alarm bells: 1. 🚨 LESS TRAINING “It’s sort of not as long at uni, but you can work in the same environment (ie. as a doctor). Doctors have to (after uni) go on placements & move around the country, but as a PA you do your training at uni & that’s about it!” 2. 🚨 SWAP SPECIALTY AT A WHIM “If I’m working as a PA in GP & tomorrow I decide I want to work in cardiology, I can then work as a PA in cardiology the next day. Then in 5 years when I get bored of that, I can work in respiratory. I can go around & do whatever I want!” Interviewer: “ Wonderful! Do you need any other qualifications to swap from one specialty to another or can you just go a bit of CPD? PA: “You can just do a bit of CPD & reading in your own time”. NO extra qualifications needed. I’m sorry, but how can ANYONE who cares about patients defend a PA role as anything other than assistant. They are NOT trained They are NOT qualified They are NOT safe You don’t need to be medical to see that! How on EARTH can the GMC, NHSE, Royal colleges subject patients to this?! Absolutely disgraceful.
Replying to @NottsAlliance
@NottsAlliance Why is the PA lying ? A healthcare/science degree isn’t required and 3yrs 2 doesn’t make 5 years studying to be a PA. She describes working dangerously seeing undifferentiated pts ,care homes and doing telephone triage . Remove this video immediately

An important update from @AnaesUnited on the PA & AA scandal which raises the important question - where is the @gmcuk getting the money to defend it’s outrageous position - hopefully not doctors fees or taxpayers money from the Government. This is a question that needs answering
No national standards for supervision of Physician Associates, their scope of practice, or patient consent. No wonder it has been called the PA Scandal. In this short video, Helen Salisbury and Richard Marks explain why.

The rate of suicides in England & Wales has reached its highest level for 25 years according to new @ONS data. I was struck by this north south divide in the data. Each suicide is a real person and the collapse of mental health care should concern us all: ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationa…

It's ironic that all the people with impostor syndrome are perfectly well-qualified, and all the ones who actually are impostors are entirely confident of their abilities.

Having a sense of autonomy at work (a level of control & independence over job tasks & work environment) makes a massive difference. It leads to a sense of accomplishment & wellbeing; it makes people feel more invested in their work so creates engagement; it makes people feel more trusted & valued & leads to greater productivity. 6 factors with the highest return on investment for amplifying autonomy across an organisation or system: bit.ly/3uGEubT. I have been through every single donation received by Welsh MPs over the last year and there has been cash pouring into certain Tory seats ahead of the General Election. One former Wales rugby captain gave ÂŁ7.5K in one donation. Let's go through and have look. [Thread]

I’ll say this every single day if I have to - the European convention on human rights protects our right to a fair trial, freedom of assembly and expression, the right to participate in free elections, freedom of religion, freedom from discrimination, the right to privacy, freedom from torture and degrading treatment - leaving it would be absolutely insane
Jeez. Former Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick tells GB News viewers we should join Russia & Belarus as only other European nations outside the European convention on human rights If like me you will be opposing him RT this explanation of why his suggestion is utter insanity

If 'refusing to work' warrants being cut off from all state support, I can think of MANY former ministers and actual PMs who should have all their taxpayer-funded benefits immediately rescinded. Would probably save far more money too.

Another PA course description using the phrase “medically trained” 🙄 This time it’s @SwanseaUni. Stop it: are you *trying* to wind up your medical graduates, y’know, doctors… who ARE “medically trained”? Suggest fixing this by changing “medically” to “clinically”.

British Steel doesn't exist, it is owned by Indian Tata who are best mates with Infosys and of course Sunak. Sunak gave them ÂŁ500m of your money and they still cut 2,000 jobs. Because it was never about jobs it was about personal profit.
