Construction works have officially completed at Australia's Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) — the country's first major new airport in more than 50 years. The focus now shifts to fitting out the retail units, airline lounges, and preparing the airport for its opening in late 2026.
The project was designed by COX Architecture, Zaha Hadid Architects and Woods Bagot, and constructed by Multiplex. These images, released by
@ZHA_News, show the experience that awaits passengers inside. The ceiling is covered in aluminium box sections treated to look like timber, and undulates to the angles of the nearby Blue Mountains. It also uses light filtration, inspired by the Australian bush, to mimic the experience of standing underneath a eucalyptus tree canopy.
