How many ppl opened this app today and this was the first post they saw?
I respect Messi’s greatness, but I’m fully convinced he’s going goal‑less this World Cup and Argentina are getting grouped. He holds them back. Bookmark this and come back when it happens.

Benefiting advertisers is a win? Ok. 🤷‍♂️
I have no problem with hydration breaks. It benefits players and advertisers. Win/win. Yes, it changes how you play/coach/watch, but so did substitutions, 3 pts for win, VAR, etc. Evolve and adapt. There will be a generation whose version of the beautiful game includes quarters.

Top leader behaviour there, disclosing a private discussion just before England kick off their campaign. 👍👍👍
📲 Harry Maguire reveals Thomas Tuchel FACETIMED him to let him know he wouldn’t be in the England squad 😳 “It was quite an awkward call. It makes it harder probably for himself to see our reactions.” “We had a few words…” 👀 [@RestIsFootball] #MUFC

And this is the kind of fella who thinks ppl who actually grew up playing football had rules during kick abouts. 🤷‍♂️
This is the kind of person who called offsides and obstruction at lunchtime kick abouts Be easy. Relax

Good to see Australians joining in with the Americans in fundamentally not understanding the history of football and the factors that have prevailed to produce the best teams and players in the game's history. Standard excuse - "we would be great if we wanted to".
I know we love dunking on the Americans over this & a lot of the athletes they put up are bad examples But I also think if the AFL didn’t exist, Socceroos would have had more global superstars. Like how Sam Kerr started playing football because Aus Rules wasn’t possible for her

Absolutely spot on. Any team that loses 7-1 in a World Cup finals game should be barred from qualification and then give extra homework until they can prove they deserve their qualification spot. And their spot given to teams who failed to qualify despite getting 2 chances.
In all seriousness shite like Curacao in the World Cup finals ahead of Italy can't possibly be good .

To start with, this is just some arbitrary made up criteria. But to then pretend that the players meet the criteria is just weird, regardless of whether the players are world class or not.
This couldn’t be further from the truth, world class is top 3 in your position: Harry Kane is a top 3 CF Declan Rice is a top 3 CM Jude Bellingham is a top 3 #10 Reece James is a top 3 RB Bukayo Saka is a top 3 RW At the very least, there’s 5 world class players with players like Marcus Rashford, Elliot Anderson and Nico O’Reilly all on the fringes.

The US counter balance to the "Eurosnobs" that US twitter like to shit post about.
It’s so crazy that America is hosting the World Cup when largely we don’t give a shit about it. Not saying there aren’t some who enjoy watching it, but I promise most of us do not care.

Harry Kane got the Golden Boot in 2018, and was joint top scorers in Euro 2024.
England will struggle to make it past the group stage. Harry Kane is not a tournament player, Declan Rice is overrated, and Bellingham is one paced. They will huff and puff, then blame the weather conditions.

Czechoslovakia was famously located next to Germany, so you should at least be able to hazard a guess where it is? 🤷‍♂️
Countries like Czechia, Haiti, Ghana, Cabo Verde have qualified for #FIFAWorldCup Can we even locate these countries on the world map? I can't!! Meanwhile, a country of 1.5B is busy guzzling cricket & IPL 🤡🫩 We're Viswaguru👏🏼👏🏼 #FifaOnZEE5

1986 and 1990 were particularly devastating for those nations.
Traumatic defeats of teams that could and in some cases should have won the World Cup but didn’t. 1954: Hungary 1974: Holland 1978: Holland 1982: France and Brazil 1986: USSR 1990: Yugoslavia 1994: Romania 2006: Germany 2010: Ghana England too possibly on a number of occasions. Missed opportunities (some unlucky) in 1970, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1998, 2002, 2018. Any more you can think of?

"Born and bread"
Born and bread here. Liverpool are waking up! Every lefty that turns up at these protests are bussed in from out of town, not a scouser between them.

There is no harm in providing a succinct and useful explanation - the WC is meant to spread yhe game wider. The explanation is not succinct and barely useful.

"Accommodate FIFA". It is a tournament Canada, Mexico an USA bid to host.
This is fine, a connection to the WC26 should not guarantee entry Canada, US, and Mexico have already bent over backwards to accommodate FIFA FIFA’s security standards are far too weak for a Country And small international organization do not control a countries sovereignty

I always have an issue with this. They don’t wear t-shirts in Europe yet I can’t ever find plain shirts to buy in the US. What NOT to Wear in Europe youtu.be/fHyVQlbwlJ4?si=Lbcm… via @YouTube

Wait, a professional athlete in his 30s is middle aged?!??
Ben Stokes is 35. Why is anyone of that age still going to nightclubs? I’m 33 and the last club I went in was on a stag do years ago. Why do so many early middle-age English cricketers behave like they’re still teenagers?

The 16 venues for the WC have a total capacity of 1.02m. Qatar had 8 stadiums, capacity 385k . UK top 16 stadiums currently has a total capacity of 1. 014, without including Dublin or increases in 3 of those stadiums. So, yes, UK has the capacity to host a WC.
Nothing says “British people imagine Britain to be the world” quite like the suggestion that smaller stadiums will be ok for a world cup in Britain because Britain is smaller.

This is true and is weirdly grating. "Maccies"?? Fucking "Maccies"???
Idk who in England is calling it Maccas but I'm from England and everyone I know calls it Maccies

Football gets played in the winter?
Is it just me or has the entirety of the "British heat is way worse than American heat" crowd just suddenly disappeared ever since the European teams started showing up in america
