I'm a conservative Republican. I'm the former Chief Nominations Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee. I believe the Senate should give great deference to presidential nominations. I thought it should confirm Bondi. The Senate should, and must, reject Blanche. substack.com/home/post/p-202…

These quick highlights don’t do full justice to just how “over” this game felt with 2 outs in the 9th,no one on,and a 2 run lead. Some of the Mets were already in the clubhouse smoking and commiserating on a lost World Series. NBC,in a mistake, literally posted on the screen

“Congratulations to the 1986 World Champion Boston Red Sox!” Boston was also up 3-2 in games. The Red Sox hadn’t won a Word Series in something like 70 or 75 years. Boston bars were celebrating. Then all of a sudden Red Sox pitchers couldn’t get a final strike to actually win.

Even when the capital was still in Rome the economic vitality of the Roman world was in the eastern Mediterranean. That is where the majority of the largest cities were. That is where goods like pots were manufactured. Gold was mined in the Iberian Peninsula. That gold was used
Love this map so much. It highlights a simple but often overlooked fact: the Roman Empire was centered in the Balkans and Anatolia for longer than it was centered in Italy. By the time Rome ceased to be Roman, Constantinople still had centuries ahead of it.

to pay the Roman Army much of who was still based in the west. The gold flowed East as it was used to pay for the goods produced in the East. The West had a rustic almost Wild West country feel. The East was where the gold, cities, and people were.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUGSY! The best pure lead off hitter the @SFGiants have ever had since the move to the City by the Bay. ⚾️🌉
Brett Butler turns 69 today. Excellent leadoff off hitter, stole 558 bases, hit .290 for his career with a .377 OBP. From 1983-1993 he was among the game’s elite hitters with the 7th most hits.

I see foreigners on social media raving about these new stadiums in the US,about how beautiful they are. I am an American and I really don't think they are that beautiful. I recognize they look very "perfect" and "clean" and symmetrical. But to me they just look like a metal box.

Where is the brick? Where is the wood? Where are the features that make it different from any other new stadium?

When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world stopped. Today, Russia damages Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself. A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection.

In 2015, Glenn Beck said it was "truly obscene" and beneath "the dignity of that office" for Barack Obama to cit down for an interview with YouTube creators. In 2026, Beck hailed Donald Trump as "remarkable" for hosting a garish cage fight on the White House lawn.

At least Walker didn't yell "Fraud!" when he lost the Senate election like every other GOP now seems to. He lost a very close vote,he said "thank you very much" and left the scene having participated in Georgia and American democracy.I can't blame him for wanting the Bahamas job.
Is this the moment when I stop being able to discern what is real and what isn't?
