Finnish President Joins Kenyan Olympic Legends and Top Officials for Karura Forest Run
The President of Finland🇫🇮, H.E @alexstubb, who is on an official visit to Kenya, joined Kenyan Olympic legends, Cabinet Secretary for @Environment_Ke, @DeboraBarasa, Principal Secretary @Forestry__Kenya, @GMugambi_CBS, @CCF_Kenya, Alex Lemarkoko, and other senior government officials for a symbolic 5-kilometer morning run in Karura Forest.
The event highlights Kenya-Finland cooperation in climate action and sports diplomacy, showcasing a joint commitment to environmental conservation and healthy living.
The choice of #Karura, an iconic urban forest, as the venue, emphasized the importance of preserving natural spaces for urban dwellers.
Discussions between both governments are focusing on collaborative efforts in Forestry, climate actions, youth sports programs, and sustainable development. Finland has been a long-time partner of Kenya Forest Service through the Miti Mingi Maisha Bora Project that ushered Kenya’s forest sector reforms. Finland is a leader in the forestry sector, boosting a forest cover of over 70 percent.
