Pregnancy in women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) remains complex, with limited high-quality evidence and significant variation in care worldwide. Differences in provider knowledge, access to resources, and conflicting guidelines can affect medication adherence, pregnancy decisions, and outcomes for mothers and babies. The Global Consensus Consortium—bringing together 39 IBD experts and 7 patient advocates from 6 continents—reviewed the evidence using GRADE and RAND methodologies to develop practical, data-driven recommendations. Their work includes 34 formal recommendations and 35 consensus statements aimed at improving global care for women with IBD during pregnancy, always prioritising maternal health to support infant health.
