the right words will come to you when you need them, and you will indeed be a better person. That, I propose, is the secret to spirituality, and it has nothing at all to do with believing in an immortal soul. (4/5)

Keeping that awestruck vision of the world ready to hand while dealing with the demands of daily living is no easy exercise, but it is definitely worth the effort, for if you can stay centered , and engaged , you will find the hard choices easier, (3/5)

If you can approach the world's complexities, both its glories and its horrors, with an attitude of humble curiosity, acknowledging that however deeply you have seen, you have only scratched the surface, you will find worlds within worlds, (1/5)

I want to build an AI agent that I am ok with giving to my children. It’s the same AI I want to build for myself. It will talk to me, join me, extend me. It will fit like a glove around my mind, and you will want one, too. It will allow you and me to interact so deeply that we become one. It is like us, just so much more so. Conscious, curious, loving, playing the longest game.

mcconnell, feinstein, biden, trump are all too old for another term in office. we all know this. i’ll still vote for biden over trump presuming that’s the choice because trump is singularly unfit for office. but none of these people should be running.

"The Kubrick Stare" is one of director Stanley Kubrick's most recognizable directorial techniques. A method of shot composition where a character stares at the camera with a forward tilt, to convey to the audience that they are at the peak of their derangement

Was just talking with a NATO officer about the Russian Army and asked him how long it would take the Finnish Army to seize St Petersburg. He said, ‘not long, only problem they’d face is that the Poles would get there first.’

Unfortunately one of the biggest WWII monuments in Kyiv, the obelisk on victory square, also has 1941-1945 as the years for WWII. It has annoyed me for years.
Everyone knows when WW2 started in 1939, when the Nazis invaded Poland. So why do the biggest war memorials in Berlin say the war started in 1941, and what does this tell us about the memorial debate in C Eastern Europe? 🧵

MISTAKE I MADE: I missed that 1-Cycling risks drop dramatically w/infrastructure, 2-Infr. wd improve *unexpectedly* fast w/the "Copenhagenization" of Paris/London. 3-The E-bicycle is a VASTLY more intelligent solution than the E-car: transforms every hilly city into Amsterdam

Apparently Steve Jobs favourite chart, which is why he called the personal computer a bike for the brain. I suspect he'd like electric bikes even more... they'd look even more impressive on these metrics.
