Wyndham Lewis' study is of his wife Gladys, also known as Froanna. In the 1930s, his eyesight was declining as a result of an undiagnosed tumour pressing on his optic nerve, which might account for the prominence of red in this work.

#ThrowbackThursday - in July 1948 the Austerity Olympics came to Richmond Park, as buildings used as an army barracks during the war were repurposed (and upcycled) as accommodation for male athletes during the games. The site was near Kingston Gate.
