They’re not even giving kids a chance to develop their brains or their social world. Hooking them as customers as early as possible.
Jessica Winter has been raising her children to detest A.I. Then her daughter’s public middle school began receiving Google Chromebooks, which came pre-installed with an all-ages version of Gemini, a suite of A.I. tools. “When my daughter, who is in sixth grade, begins writing an essay, she gets a prompt: ‘Help me write,’ ” Winter writes. “If she is starting work on a slide-show presentation, the prompt is ‘Help me visualize.’ She shoos away these interruptions, but they persist: ‘Help me edit.’ ‘Beautify this slide.’ ” Proponents of generative A.I. in elementary and middle schools argue that such early exposure will foster digital-media literacy, and prepare them for a future in which most professions are steeped in A.I. But the technology also poses significant cognitive and social-emotional risks to young people. Read Winter’s report about A.I.’s infiltration into schools—and what it could mean for young minds: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/NS…

Why is New York City’s political class so intent on protecting the (illegal) sale of West Bank land in the midst of growing settler violence - and why are NYC synagogues still hosting these events?
Anti-Zionist group PAL-Awda plans to protest the "Great Israel Real Estate Event" tonight at Park East Synagogue. Comes after council passed a bill further regulating protests outside houses of worship (but with a 90-day delay, so bill's not in effect yet) timesofisrael.com/liveblog_e…

Tonight, Park East Synagogue in NYC is hosting a real estate expo to auction off a cluster of Israeli settlements in the West Bank. A synagogue is being used to host the promotion of illegal land sales of stolen land. Promo describes it as "The Great Israeli Real Estate Event":

Zohran Mamdani's NYPD appeared to be coordinating with ICE at the Bushwick protests on Saturday. Activists worry the young mayor is treading too lightly with Jessica Tisch. This is tension that won't go away. My latest, for @NYMag nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

If your rights are on the ballot you have already lost your rights. Things that need to be understood.

They were not intercepted. They were abducted in international waters. This is piracy - and is a flagrant violation of international law.

I would rather starve to death than work for the company that made the rocket that killed this child, and I don’t understand anybody who doesn’t feel the same way
What can you even say at this point.

Last night, Israeli forces intercepted and boarded a humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza in international waters off the coast of Greece — unlawfully detaining more than 175 people, including several New Yorkers. My team has been in direct contact with State and Federal partners as we work to confirm the whereabouts and conditions of these New Yorkers. This is a brazen violation of international law. Those detained must be released.

My gosh, this is stunning. The Atlantic has run 5 articles in the past *2 weeks* on Hasan Piker, versus … this in the past *31 months*:
Zero stories in the Atlantic about Hind Rajab, zero stories about Israel killing medical workers or journalists—but five articles in two weeks on Twitch streamer @hasanthehun: by @adamjohnsonCHI therealnews.com/the-atlantic…

The BBC removed part of Akinola Davies Jr.’s winning speech at last night’s #BAFTAs: “Archive your loved ones. Archive your stories yesterday, today, and forever. For Nigeria, for London, the Congo, Sudan, free Palestine.” (deadline.com/2026/02/bbc-cut…)

I will say the question of whether the man is racist or not is silly to me bc ofc he is. Not because of his disability or use of a slur, but bc all white ppl including disabled people benefit from white supremacy. Maybe we can focus in that instead of castigating the disability
