This will be one of the most exciting events to take place in NYC at the intersection of science, health, biotech, blockchain, crypto, AI, and government. I am so excited that I was able to convince @ResearchHubF to bring this to the Big Apple. Thanks to @NIHDirector_Jay for giving the keynote. Other speakers include: @SeemaJJIC @KevinJTraceyMD Cliff Friedman Oliver Dodd @NucleateHQ We will have fireside chats, interactive discussions, and reimagine the future of science. Thanks to @joycesticks, @jeffyfish9, @TylerDiorio, @arshiamalek_ and all at @ResearchHubF @ResearchHub. Thanks to @brian_armstrong for creating this vision.
The institutions, infrastructure, and capital behind science are being reimagined. Catalyst NYC brings together researchers and funders to explore what’s working, what’s next, and where the opportunities lie. We’ll be discussing: → Alternative funding models → Open science infrastructure → Where philanthropy and venture capital meet research → How discoveries move from the lab to real-world impact And much more. Full agenda coming soon. 📅 July 11 📍 NYC #CatalystNYC is invite-only. Request an invitation: luma.com/66yycaak

15 months ago, the first research grants were funded on ResearchHub. Since then, 5.3M $RSC has been allocated to scientific research. Science funding is moving onchain, and the pace is only accelerating. Apply for funding or host a funding opportunity → researchhub.com/fund

Had to look into older literature this week and honestly it’s a bit shocking how little of it is open access 😅 Even in 2010 only about 1 in 5 papers was free to read. Ideally everything is open from day 0, but at the very very least anything older than 15 years should definitely just be open by now. Keeping it locked feels wrong to me. Here a plot for visualization:

We're thrilled to welcome @KevinJTraceyMD as a speaker at #CatalystNYC! A neurosurgeon and pioneer of bioelectronic medicine, Dr. Tracey's vagus nerve research led to the first FDA-approved bioimplant for rheumatoid arthritis. Today, he serves as the CEO of the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research at @NorthwellHealth. Don't miss his talk! Request an invite here ➡️ luma.com/66yycaak

ResearchCoin ($RSC) is now officially listed and available for trading on @Revolut. This puts $RSC in front of 70M users across one of Europe’s largest financial platforms. With Revolut now operating as a licensed bank in the UK, buying and accessing $RSC through a regulated platform available across Europe has become easier.

Aging is arguably the root cause of most major diseases (loss of function in our cells). Four years ago, we made a bet that aging was treatable, and NewLimit was born. NewLimit now has a prototype drug that reverses the age of some human cells (restores function they had when they were younger), and a clinical trial scheduled for next year (with more drug candidates in the pipeline). Grateful to Founders Fund, Thrive, Greenoaks, and the rest of the investors for this latest round. @jacobkimmel and the team are just getting started.
Following breakthrough results, we’re bringing longevity medicine to human trials. We’ve raised a $435M Series C led by @foundersfund to make it happen. Reprogramming cell age has the potential to create more healthy years for everyone. We're closer than ever to realizing it.

Strongly recommend @itchdoctor He nails the rare mix of top-tier research, translational science, business savvy, and tech optimism. This is a clear view of where scientific funding and experimentation are headed. @ResearchHubF/@ResearchHub is lucky to have Brian as an advisor!
A reasonable average time to funding from idea to getting the money is probably 2-3 years. Executing the work is another 2-3 years if you move quickly. In the age of DeSci AI, these timelines will literally become geologic in scale. People will develop therapies on an idea while grants are still under resubmission status.

We introduced Registered Reports at @ResearchHub a while ago and tied them directly to funded projects. Big advantage is everyone (including funders) can track the chain from funded projects-> registered reports -> results, and make informed decisions about follow up funding. Still great to see more publishers adopt parts of the model 👇

Major update on our megalith funding opportunity ⬇️ THREE research teams have each secured ~$100K in funding through ResearchHub. Each of them will independently examine Marcell Fóti’s controversial stone-making protocol under controlled conditions. Meet the highly cited researchers running the independent validations. 🧵
A $200K funding opportunity was just posted on @ResearchHub to capitalize experiments testing a decades-old hypothesis: That ancient megaliths weren't carved from quarried stone — they were cast from geopolymer concrete🧵

We're offering a $150 bounty on ResearchHub for experts to peer review this preprint ⬇️ The researchers examined whether cold atmospheric plasma could treat bacterial skin infections. They tested helium, argon, and air plasma on mice with S. aureus skin infections. The plasma treatments reduced bacterial load and itching without burning the skin. Argon plasma showed the strongest itch reduction, while helium plasma produced sustained antibacterial effects across repeated treatments.

When scientists learn about @ResearchHub, they're often excited about the platform, but unsure why crypto is involved. What is ResearchCoin, and why does it exist? $RSC offers several benefits for science: 1. It's a universal currency for distributing research funds internationally. A funder in the US can easily transfer RSC to scientists in Japan or Pakistan. 2. It's a continuous source of science funding. All users holding RSC automatically earn Funding Credits, which go right back into the science. 3. Holding RSC gives you voting rights on certain platform decisions, like how RSC gets deployed to support science.
