Our recent research in collaboration with Roland Jäger and @cj_binder indicates that clonal haemopoiesis (CHIP) is a novel risk factor for (unprovoked) venous thromboembolism (VTE). Previously, CHIP has been identified as risk factor for atherosclerotic vascular disease.

Nice to see that the message getting through that the ONLY indication for IVC filter is contraindication to anticoagulation and acute venous thrombosis (DVT and/or PE) in the last 14 days. BUT message that prescriber must follow-up until IVC filter is out clearly still needs work

Inferior vena cava filter (IVCF) insertion declined from 2013 to 2021, yet retrieval rates remained low and nonretrieved IVCFs were associated with an increased risk of long-term complications, such as DVT and caval thrombosis. ja.ma/3YUAaSM
