ALT The immense wooden entrance to the catacombs beneath St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in the heart of New York City exudes an aura that sends shivers down one's spine. This foreboding portal stands as a sentinel between the world of the living and the shadowy abyss below, casting an eerie atmosphere over those who dare to approach.

ALT This image captures an old outhouse that sits near the base of the Mills Peak fire lookout in Plumas County California, above the community of Graeagle. Built in 1933 and restored in 2005, the lookout plays a vital role in wild fire prevention and early suppression. A few of these historic lookouts I’ve been to have these old wooden outhouses next to them. I’m not sure if they’re still used or not, but it’s my hope modern staffers of the lookouts have more modern options. It was nearly noon when I arrived at this location and the high sun was directly hitting the needles of the trees. Therefore, I chose to shoot this with my full spectrum modified camera fitted with an 830 nanometer infrared cut filter.
