I don’t post much about this, but I’m hosting a hackathon in Chile ~1 month out. I'm angry at companies doing AI hype events that exploit devs, students & researchers with shady IP grabs. I know we can do better, so I’m funding a builder-first version Last year, we did a great AI Conference (the photo one), and I want to do a great hackathon now. 200 vetted engineers/researchers/ML folks, real $$$, no IP theft. 0 bs. A couple of days have passed since the 2nd @jsconfcl ended (and a couple of months since the @OpenAI and @CommunityOS_ Hackathon), and I find myself reflecting a bit, so excuse the sappiness It was, —no shit— an unforgettable experience, filled with effort, hard work, volunteering, and service. It's an event made for and by the community, It was 3 days with over 700 attendees, 20 speakers, dozens of hugs, and hundreds of thank-yous. So... It's been more than a decade since I organized my first meetup. Over 10 years since I started getting involved in tech communities, sharing knowledge, and learning from others. Back then, I had no idea where this journey would lead me in the end, nor the profound impact we’d have on the tech ecosystem in our region. And for that I'm incredibly grateful. This is only the 2nd edition of what I hope will be many more. 🙏 Looking ahead, I do feel more motivated than ever. Like... We have an incredible team and an incredibly passionate community. I want us to keep making an impact, improving this ecosystem, and creating opportunities for us to grow together. Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey.
