I slept in a room last night with a mini-split and a screened window. The previous guest had the window shut and the mini-split at 68 degrees, despite the fact it gets into the 50s at night where I am in Virginia. I was so chilly from the fresh night air I had to close the window at midnight. I’m sorry, but a lot of my fellow Americans are like the person who slept in the room before me — they’ll run an a/c when the outdoor temperature is lower than the a/c setting. This is ridiculous, bad for the environment, and financially wasteful. Let’s enjoy America’s a/c abundance while making intelligent choices about how and when to use it!
